Global Engineering and Technology executes major CAPEX projects in the Pharma Division with focus mainly on Pharma Technical Operations (PT). The Electrical Engineer provides discipline focused technical leadership and accountability for Electrical Engineering in the delivery of capital projects and engineering services to support PT, CMO, and Affiliates. This includes projects that are single and multidisciplinary in nature. The Electrical Engineer reports to the Global Head of Engineering & Technology.
Key Responsibilities/Tasks
The Electrical Engineer has basic skills in the following focus areas.
Defining Electrical Engineering roles and responsibilities
Gaining alignment with key stakeholders, customers and project management team
Defining priorities
Applying decision making processes
Providing regular status updates including progress vs plan, risks, mitigations
Managing approved electrical budgets, schedules and costs. Substantial contributions to overall electrical scope including:
Options Analysis & Project Planning
Execution strategies and development of detailed Schedule applying Lean Principles when appropriate
Resourcing and estimating
Executing deliverables in compliance with EM, Global Standards and Processes and all other Roche Guidelines and Directives
Expressing relevant information timely, clearly and concisely to relevant stakeholders including adjusting communication style to the audience being addressed
Partnering proactively with key customers, team members and stakeholders, while being open and approachable with a friendly, positive and professional attitude
Challenging the status-quo and developing creative solutions within the framework of Global Standards and Processes
Leading proactive measures to achieve the specified goals in the event of deviations from the project plan
Managing external contractors and giving clear guidance to the team in terms of technical solutions and/or business processes
Maintaining ownership of assigned work-package within electrical discipline through all project phases so that target functionality, quality and reliability are achieved
Supporting review of project documentation submitted by engineering firms, verifying completeness of documentation, conformance to Roche standards, and adherence to the project's original scope request.
Assisting in the development and revision of tools used by the Project Team to provide guidance to external Engineering teams.
Developing of standard system P&ID's (Process and Instrumentation Diagrams), standard details, and standard schedules
Updating and revising Roche master specifications
Providing revision to Roche design guidelines and standards
Assisting in the creation of presentations and reports to upper management as needed
Interacting with Design Manger, PM and construction project teams: Attend design review meetings with MEP engineering firms supporting projects
Attend Owner/Architect/Contractor (OAC) meetings for projects during the life of the project through ISD, C&Q and turnover.
Discipline Specifics
Experience include systems and equipment within one or more of the following areas: biologics drug substance, biologics drug product, small molecules drug substance, small molecules drug product, packaging/warehousing and GMP utilities
Technical Analysis: including process and technology plant fits, capacity and equipment utilization, and assessment of applicable new technologies
Participate with one or more of the Electrical Engineering and Sustainability Community of Practices
Work is performed under limited direction.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering/Finance or related discipline with 8 to 11 years of experience preferable in pharmaceutical/biopharmaceutical , 6 to 9 years of experience with Masters Degree, 3 to 6 years of experience with PhD
Preferred Requirements: MS in Engineering/Finance and/or an MBA
6 years of experience in international management of capital projects
Able to execute scope that is complex on projects that are small to mid-sized
MEP consulting firm experience is a must

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Oceanside, CA is $100,500 - $186,600. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
