Job Title: Lead Housing Navigator – Transitional Housing

Department: Center for Opportunity, Rehabilitation, and Employment (CORE)

Reports To: Program Manager

Location: Denver, Colorado

Hours: Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm, some evenings and weekends

FLSA Status: Exempt

Salary Range: $54,000 - $58,000 annually

Schedule: Full-Time, 40 hours per week

For 50 years Bayaud Enterprises has been an innovator in the community in reducing hurdles for individuals to engage in the workforce and attain self -reliance. We do this through personalized Employment Services, Social Enterprises (Business Solutions) which provide employment for those needing supported employment, and Individual and Community Services like providing free laundry with the Laundry Truck and support in finding housing and accessing different resource programs through the help of our Navigators. We create Hope, help to find Opportunities, and inspire Choices.

DEPARTMENT

Bayaud Enterprises partners with Federal, State, as well as multiple City, County, and private entities to bring various services to the residents of our state. The services we provide range from disability benefits acquisitions to paid work experience and employment discovery and job search to anyone with a hurdle to employment. Constantly evolving to meet the needs of the people we serve, this department's primary focus is relationship building, stakeholder, and partnership/collaborator outreach. From these efforts we will shape the future of workforce development, career pathway planning, and develop programs to meet established and emerging needs in the field.

SUMMARY

The goal of a Lead Housing Navigator is to not only act as a single point of contact for clients enrolled in transitional housing programs, but also to mentor, teach and guide Navigators I & II to ensure the best possible service is provided. Lead Housing Navigators will perform and instruct other Navigators on how to efficiently complete intakes and enrollment into HMIS, completing a VI-SPDAT, working with One Home, assisting with housing search, applications, inspections, teaching basic life skills and budgeting to support housing stability as well as basic case management. They will work closely with and support the Program Manager around staff development and improving positive outcomes.

Qualifications

RESPONSIBILITES

  • Mentor, teach and guide Navigators I & II to ensure understanding of laws, regulations and processes to provide the best possible service to clients.

  • Conducts yearly and quarterly assessments of clients to inform service provision.

  • Provide support to Program Manager in data tracking and reporting.

  • Complete timely and accurate collection of data across multiple databases including intake and maintenance.

  • Provide comprehensive, one-stop assistance for clients from intake to housing stability for consistency and continuity of care.

  • Attend and provide support for resident meetings, community handbooks, newsletters, focus groups, and other inclusive dialogues with program residents.

  • Provide quality of services for housing participants in the areas of navigation services and housing counseling services, guidance in budgeting, debt reduction, credit re-building and education.

  • Provide supportive services and coordination with other agencies/referrals for outside support.

  • Track communication and follow-up for participant requests, navigation services, ancillary services, and coordination with other internal and external referrals as needed.

  • Maintain awareness of resources, emerging issues, and public policy impacting our targeted populations and industry sector.

  • Ensure confidentiality of client information as required by agency and/or state and federal regulations.

  • Build relationships with landlords, property managers, and other professionals to develop referral sources.

  • Remain familiar and current with HUD requirements and counseling program regulations. Communicate changes in requirements or regulations to HSCP and HUD network and ensure compliance.

  • Monitors timely and accurate collection of data into all databases.

  • Other duties as assigned.

SKILLS

  • Experience working with HMIS and One Home.

  • Demonstrated proficiency assisting individuals in navigating the housing process from homelessness to stability.

  • Knowledgeable of the environment and systems through which clients must move to access programs and services. Understanding of the challenges and barriers faced when experiencing poverty, mental and/or physical disabilities and/or other barriers, regarding how trauma can impact the housing process.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish working relationships with various entities.

  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), grammar, and reasoning skills.

  • Solid understanding of Microsoft 365 and its various programs.

  • Commitment to working within an integrated services model.

  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information without breach.

  • Crisis intervention skills supporting individuals with mental, physical, or other disabilities.

  • Ability to coordinate and prioritize numerous activities, resources, and deadlines.

  • Ability to work successfully in a team environment, as well as independently.

  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines.

  • Superior creative problem solving.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position will directly supervise Housing Navigators I & II.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma/GED and 3 years' experience in providing Housing Counseling and/or Housing Navigation.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Valid driver's license with the ability to pass Bayaud's motor vehicle carrier's insurance requirements.

  • Pass background check for working with vulnerable populations.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public. Bilingual (Spanish) may qualify for an increased salary offer.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Understanding of basic family budgeting and fair market value.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret and variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment will be a combination of a temperature-controlled office environment and in the field meeting with participants in the Colorado weather.

ALTERNATIVE WORK PLAN

This position is not eligible for an "Alternative Work Plan". All duties must be performed in the office or in the community with participants. Special projects will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

TRAVEL

Occasional travel will include Meetings in the community. Pick up/delivery of supplies or items needed for participants. Other travel as needed. Will drive company vehicle for these purposes. If a personal vehicle is used for work travel, this driver will be reimbursed at the federal rate for mileage.
