Job Description

JOB SUMMARY
Responsible primarily for evaluating, negotiating, and executing business deals focused on increasing revenues and reducing expenses, as well as licensing opportunities and strategic business alliances that are in line with the Companys long-range goals. Responsible also for strategic analysis of issues and opportunities for the Product and Engineering departments and possible impacts the departments have on other parts of the company. The role requires: (1) command of negotiation tactics in deals of various kinds, with a special emphasis on video and wireless-related transactions and IP licensing; (2) extensive knowledge of the telecommunications industry; (3) financial modeling skills; (4) experience building and delivering presentations to corporate executives; (5) experience in acquisitions of, and investments in, companies, although this role will only support corporate development activities; and (6) frequent participation in professional situations such as vendor meetings.


MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience
  • Serve as a leader in providing business development support, including supporting efforts in analyzing and negotiating company-wide agreements
  • Lead negotiation on business transactions up to $10 Billion or more in value
  • Review business proposals from vendors with an ability to prioritize accretive transactions
  • Manage the life cycle of completed transactions
  • Assist in the onboarding of deals operationally into a large organization
  • Willingness and ability to maintain and foster communication across all divisions and functions within the Company
  • Evaluate projects through financial feasibility studies, research and budget effects
  • Lead or participate in the creation of presentations for senior management on a wide array of topics, e.g., competitive threats, partnership opportunities, and deal strategies
  • Read and provide written summaries of relevant industry news
  • Prepare deal summaries and presentations for senior management with recommendations
  • Define the organizational structure of alliances, negotiate alliance agreements, support the execution of the business plan and manage the ongoing alliance relationship on behalf of the Company
  • Coordinate with Product, Engineering, Advertising Sales, Legal and other organizations regarding possible products for licensing and transactions to complete
  • Analyze and participate in mergers, acquisitions and divestitures, and make recommendations as to their impact on the organizations profitability
  • May assist with special studies in areas such as operational effectiveness, capacity utilization, cost containment, etc.
  • Perform other duties as requested by supervisor.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Skills/Abilities and Knowledge
  • Ability to structure and negotiate deals of material complexity
  • Ability to converse and interact with senior level operations, sales and finance persons at external companies, building and developing sound relationships
  • Knowledge of cable and telecommunications products and services
  • Demonstrated understanding of the financial modeling, financial reporting, and analysis used by financial and investment professionals to value an organization's effectiveness and performance
  • Knowledge of advanced accounting theory and procedures
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data
  • Ability to lead multiple projects and tasks
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing in a clear and straightforward manner
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of management and company personnel
  • Ability to make decisions and solve problems while working under pressure
  • Ability to influence others
  • Ability to prioritize and organize effectively
  • Ability to show judgment and initiative and to accomplish job duties
  • Ability to use personal computer and software applications e.g., Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Education
Bachelor's degree
MBA or JD preferred
Related Work Experience
15+ years' experience in contract negotiation and drafting and building strategic relationships
10+ years managing a team preferred
WORKING CONDITIONS
Office environment. Some travel may be required.
