The mission of the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless is to work collaboratively toward the prevention of homelessness and the creation of lasting solutions for homeless and at-risk families, children, and individuals throughout Colorado. The Coalition advocates for and provides a continuum of housing and a variety of services to improve the health, well-being, and stability of those it serves.

The Colorado Coalition for the Homeless currently seeks an Enrollment Specialist who works with a multi-disciplinary care team performing both independent and delegated duties including a variety of registration and financial screening functions with the objective of determining eligibility for health benefit coverage under the terms of various health care assistance programs. Additionally, the Enrollment Specialist works as a member of the assigned location Client Access Team to help manage the lobby setting, greet and provide direction to clients, vendors, contractors, and delivery personnel along with performing a myriad of other customer service and office-related tasks. This position is located at 2130 Stout Street, Denver, CO 80205 and reports to the Manager of Client Services.

Essential Job Functions

  • Researches and verifies patient eligibility for different programs and insurance coverage.
  • Registers and interviews patients to obtain accurate and complete demographic and financial information.
  • Informs patients about the availability of governmentally funded discount programs.
  • Completes enrollment applications through electronic and manual systems.
  • Identifies and corrects enrollment discrepancies.
  • Maintains knowledge and expertise in program eligibility, enrollment, and program specifications of Medicaid, Child Health Plan +, Medicare Savings, CICP, and Connect for Health Colorado.
  • Updates and maintains accurate data on enrollment cases worked. This data is submitted to the state of CO to maintain our compliance with state enrollment oversight.
  • Periodically travels to CCH properties outside of the downtown health center location to run benefit enrollment outreach events in coordination with CCH staff at those sites.
  • Understands, interprets, and communicates federal, state and local program eligibility criteria, policies and procedures.
  • Provides back up support to Client Access Representatives as needed.
  • Assists clients with questions and concerns while providing direction in accessing CCH services and other homeless resources.
  • Greets and directs clients, visitors, and guests to the appropriate department.
  • Answers, directs, and responds to all incoming calls.
  • Demonstrates competency with continued learning and application of the Electronic Health Record and other programs.
  • Record all services in a timely and complete fashion in the EHR
  • Maintain up to date records in EHR
  • Record telephone and other communications as needed in the EHR
  • Manage tasks and scanning as needed to have a complete and current chart
  • Maintain accurate information regarding client's insurance status
  • Utilize the EHR and any future upgrades as directed

Qualifications Summary

  1. High school diploma or GED required.
  2. Customer service, front desk or experience in a medical office setting preferred.
  3. Bilingual English/Spanish speaking preferred.
  4. Minimum of 1 year of Medicaid eligibility and CICP enrollment experience strongly preferred.
