About the role

The Director Compensation will support the Banking Solutions line of business.This role will provide guidance and partnership to the business and HR Business Partners in support of compensation programs and processes. This role will also ensure that that their client's compensation needs are understood and met, collaborating with the Total Rewards team to develop creating solutions and offerings.

Compensation management at FIS is part of a high-functioning Total Rewards function that also includes Benefits, Recognition, Well-being and Performance Management. Total Rewards partners with the business leaders and partners across The People Office to provide proactive best-in-class solutions that are critical to employee satisfaction and driving our pay-for-performance culture.

What you will be doing

  • Manage the compensation relationship with an assigned client group, which is complex and has presence in multiple global regions.
  • Provide guidance to the business and develop creative solutions on a variety of total compensation issues including the setting of appropriate base pay and short/ long-term incentives.
  • Partner with HR Business Partners and executives to manage established compensation processes including annual merit/ salary planning, annual bonus recommendations, equity and other compensation related processes.
  • Collaborates with the Compensation team members in other areas of Total Rewards, to ensure client needs are understood and met.
  • Responds to internal requests for review of existing jobs, pricing new positions, reviewing requests for promotions, salary adjustments, and external offer packages ensuring internal and external equity.
  • Works with Business Partners within The People Office to drive compensation solutions that support major business change initiatives.
  • Manages ongoing projects, maintains project timelines, creates presentations, communication materials, policies, etc.
  • Contributes to design, implementation, communication and administration of new compensation and rewards programs.
  • Ensure compliance with legal regulations related to compensation, staying informed of new regulatory and market trends.
  • Leads projects, makes presentations to groups, and manages multiple projects with shifting priorities.


What you bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, human resources, economics or related field or the equivalent combination of education, training, or work experience.
  • CCP (Certified Compensation Professional) designation preferred.
  • Professional level compensation experience in the design and administration of compensation programs, job leveling systems, salary survey participation and analysis, bonus design and administration, and merit design and administration in large, highly matrixed organization.
  • Executive presence, and strong client consulting skills.
  • Mastery in PC skills including Word, PowerPoint and advanced Excel - must be proficient in pivot tables, vlookups, graphing, formulas and functions.
  • Ability to analyze complex data and develop sound recommendations and solutions.
  • Experience managing data within HRIS systems, such as Workday.
  • Knowledge of existing and emerging U.S. government regulations as they apply to compensation base and incentive compensation programs, company policies and operations.
  • Excellent skills in communicating ideas both verbally and in written form in a clear, concise and professional manner including presentations. Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management in an organized, professional manner.
  • Strong interpersonal skills in dealing with top management.
  • Excellent problem solving, independent decision making, analytical and time management skills managing multiple tasks/ deadlines for self and others.
