ABOUT DARLING INGREDIENTS

We began as a family business in 1882 and have continued to grow into the world's leading innovative developer and producer of sustainable organic ingredients for a growing population. Headquartered in Irving, TX with regional offices in Cold Spring, KY and Des Moines, IA as well as production facilities across the U.S., we have over 10,000 employees across the globe. We repurpose and reuse rather than discarding what others might consider waste. We capture valuable ingredients and nutrients to help maximize what nature has to offer, providing components for a wide range of products that include pet food, fertilizer, and biofuel. Giving nature a second life is our second nature.

Our greatest assets are our employees. Our inclusive global workforce and their wide variety of skills, abilities, experiences, and perspectives have been critical in helping us consistently deliver best-in-class results around the world. In order to attract and retain employees who share our values of integrity, transparency, and entrepreneurship, we offer competitive pay, excellent benefits, stability, and opportunities for career growth.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A ROUTE DRIVER

As a Route Driver, you are responsible for collecting and transporting raw materials from our broad customer base back to facilities and transfer stations. Our customers range in size from small-scale butchers, grocers, and restaurants up to large-scale food processors. Driving a straight truck or a tractor-trailer, you collect materials from multiple customers along your route each day - climbing in and out of your truck and operating lift equipment is part of your daily routine.

Managing your route with an onboard computer (OBC) and also keeping an up-to-date backup paper log for compliance purposes is part of your daily routine. Taking responsibility for your truck, you keep it clean and complete a vehicle condition report on a daily basis. In addition, you provide exceptional service to your customers while following all laws and regulations. You love that you get to hit the road for a living, while still being home most nights!

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR A ROUTE DRIVER

  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • Authorized to work in the US
  • Valid Class A CDL with tanker endorsements
  • Good driving record

In addition, you need the following:

  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check
  • Customer service skills

Two years of experience operating a commercial vehicle in a route delivery setting and experience with truck hydraulics are preferred, but multiple factors will be taken into consideration. Can you communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing? Are you organized with superior time management skills? Can you maintain your composure in difficult situations? Do you easily adapt to changes and work well with others? If so, you might just be perfect for this Route Driver position!

ROUTE DELIVERY WORK SCHEDULE

All of our route delivery drivers operate routes in their local area with occasional overnight travel. This full-time Class A or Class B CDL truck driving job also has the opportunity to work regular overtime.
