What you'll do

This is a unique role at Viasat. You will provide risk updates directly to the CIO and CFO regarding on-going transformation projects. The role is an advisory position that works directly with the teams implementing new technology at Viasat. You will ensure that compliance is considered when driving transformation and ensure that the right controls are in place to mitigate risk. This role does not report into Internal Audit but rather into the business that is driving transformation.


The real-world implication of your work is protecting our shareholders by mitigating audit risk in IT by advising implementation teams on how to build a control framework over their platforms.


You will have the opportunity to work with Viasat's CFO, CIO, IT and Engineering Management, Corporate Accounting, and other Business Areas.


The day-to-day

  • Schedule and perform periodic executive updates with Global Information Technology (GIT), Finance, Finance Business Systems (FBS), and Internal Audit (IA)
  • Perform periodic and ad hoc IT SOX compliance status, future systems scoping, and audit applicability
  • Perform development of systems compliance roadmap and periodic agreement with GIT and FBS executive management
  • Coordinate with GIT teams any new system implementations/upgrades/enhancements to ensure controls are built into the planning, development, and execution
  • Partner with GIT, Finance, IA, and other cross-functional technical/development leadership to establish priorities, strategy, and communicate regular updates on compliance initiatives and to support system implementations, enhancements, and upgrades as part of the SDLC process, including control design and operating effectiveness
  • Serve as primary compliance point of contact during critical business and technical transformations and advise on all aspects of system development and business process design
  • Monitor and communicate to Finance and IA of when new or changed systems and/or controls are effective and ready for audit.

What you'll need

  • Degree in MIS, Accounting, or related field
  • 7+ years working in IT SOX
  • Strong command of ITGCs
  • Experience in designing and implementing IT controls
  • High aptitude to understanding complex system environments
  • Basic knowledge of SQL, Python, databases, networks

  • Self-driven and self-starter; have initiative to seek out changes that are occurring across the IT landscape

Salary range

$123,500.00 - $222,400.00 / annually
