The SPA will work with the Coordinator of Scholarship Support and Retention with scholars about important reminders, deadlines, and tasks required by scholars to maintain their scholarship. SPA assists full-time staff with planning and coordination of engagement and social events, creating graphics and social media content, communicating with scholars, and tracking and interpreting data. The SPA will work with the Coordinator of Scholarship Support and Retention and campus/community partners to develop and implement scholar recruitment strategies. The SPA is required to attend regular planning meetings with students and full-time staff and will play an active role in ensuring scholars' academic and social growth and success. This position has a meaningful impact on scholarship recipients across the MSU Denver campus and works towards a welcoming and supportive environment for scholars and all students at MSU.

Duties include:

Scholar Support

  • Serve as a resource to Reisher scholars
  • Connect with students individually and in groups to assist with navigating MSU Denver and help them build campus connections
  • Utilize University systems to ensure students are completing necessary tasks- financial aid completion, course registration, etc.
  • Conduct outreach to scholars about events and scholarship requirements
  • Participate in selection of Reisher scholarship recipients

Administrative

  • Utilize university data systems to track student information
  • Assist with compiling reports for internal and external partners

Events and Programming

  • Plan events and programming for Reisher scholars as well as assisting with departmental events
  • Assist with logistics of events including booking space, ordering food, decorating, etc.
  • Connect with students at events to help build community and create a welcoming environment

Scholar Recruitment

  • Using an equity lens, work with Coordinator of Scholarship Support and campus/community partners to develop and implement recruiting strategies
  • Assist with screening candidates for eligibility and aid with selection logistics.

Compensation

Pay Rate is $23.00 per hour.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with a diverse population of students
  • Experience with event planning
  • Familiar with MSU Denver student information systems- Banner, SSC Navigate, etc.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Experience working with Reisher Scholarship
