Sustainment Test Engineer

The Opportunity:

We are looking for an innovative, creative, and highly motivated individual to support a command client's program office managing a diverse set of strategic and tactical systems and infrastructure. The candidate will provide test and evaluation and terminal operations support of a diverse set of strategic and tactical systems and infrastructure.

Our effort provides leading edge Systems Engineering and Integration (SE&I) for an Air Force client's system center. We support the Air Force's acquisition of state-of-the-art Military Satellite Communications systems, providing global secure, survivable, and protected communications for our nation's warfighters. We seek technical individuals who will thrive in a highly collaborative work environment of small teams, using the most modern tools and methodologies to tackle the challenges of integrating complex space and ground communications systems.

You'll design, plan, coordinate, and execute testing and provide terminal operations on various systems, subsystems, and devices, including the Family of Beyond Line-of-Sight Terminals (FAB-T), Air Force Command Post Terminal (AFCPT), Time Distribution Subsystem Pre-Processor (TDSPP), MILSATCOM Messaging System (MMS), Global Broadcast Service (GBS), Ground Multi-band Terminal (GMT), and Mission Planning Subsystem (MPSS). For each of these systems, you'll provide engineering and technician-level support, including integration, communication circuit troubleshooting, and system-level anomaly resolution. You'll identify and isolate software or hardware defects to evaluate or assess system modifications for shortfalls or interoperability issues, and provide technical assessments to the client with regards to the modifications. You'll author and deliver technical documentation including test plans, test procedures, system configuration diagrams, engineering studies, technical whitepapers, and test reports.

You Have:

  • 3+ years of experience with DoD or USAF test processes and documentation
  • 3+ years of experience with MILSATCOM systems, associated hardware, and troubleshooting
  • 3+ years of experience working with military or DoD civilian clients, and managing professional relationships
  • Experience using Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of DoD mission system sustainment
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
  • Ability to be a motivated self-starter capable of autonomous on-the-job learning or improvement
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or CS

Nice If You Have:

  • 5+ years of experience with MILSATCOM equipment and troubleshooting
  • 3+ years of experience handling Communications Security (COMSEC) materials and devices
  • Experience supporting a DoD Operational Test Agency or Organization
  • Experience operating or maintaining FAB-T, AFCPT, TDSPP, MMS, GMT, GBS Receive Suites, cryptographic equipment such as KIV- 7M, ANDVT, KGV-11, or KG-250, or infrastructure or support equipment
  • Experience working in a highly competitive multi-contractor environment
  • Possession of excellent written and verbal communications and presentation skills
  • Secret clearance
  • International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE) Certification such as ASEP, CSEP, or ESEP Certification

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $60,300.00 to $137,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen's total compensation package for employees. This posting will close within 90 days from the Posting Date.
